So I finally broke down and started a blog after the insistence of a few friends and a rather catchy title was thought up. Hence, the obscene knitter was created. (I have a rather bad habit of muttering a few expletives every once in a while whilst in the middle of a rather difficult knitting project. My roommate noticed this and dubbed me the obscene knitter.)
It's Valentine's Day, a rather odd day to start blogging on. And I'm single. And for once, this doesn't bother me in the slightest. Although most of this blog will be dedicated to my knitting projects and such, I thought it would be nice to offer my thoughts on this day when so many people will be caught up in the loneliness that we have come to call single's awareness day.
I think it's safe to say that even though it is Valentine's Day and I'm single, I'm the happiest I've ever been. I have great friends, plenty of opportunities to challenge myself, and a bag full of yarn waiting to be created into something beautiful. So why should I only create things out of yarn? It's time to create something in my life, time to create self-confidence, self-trust, self-assurance. It's time to create this because we are all worth more than other people's intentions might have us believe. I would like to challenge everyone to take one day and think of everything you would like to create in your life, whether it be a new hat or a much needed attitude adjustment. Take a moment to create that idea in your mind, see the possibilities it opens up, feel the changes it could bring in your life. Take the moments you spend pining for something (or someone) you don't have and create something in those moments to make your life more meaningful. Be the creative creature that you are and appreciate each of your ideas for the genius that they are. Step out of the mold and be the creator in your life instead of the creation.
If you get a chance, leave some comments on something you'd like to create in your own life.
